Packing List Recommendation

BELOW IS A GENERAL GUIDE ON WHAT TO BRING ON YOUR SAFARI. “Less is more” is the secret to successful safari packing - pack light and you’ll save yourself many headaches. There are efficient laundry services at all lodges and hotels.

LUGGAGE & BAGS

  • Space is limited in safari vehicles and your journey may include travel on light aircraft, which restricts

  • luggage weight max 15 kgs (30 lbs) – including hand luggage.

  • Small to medium-sized duffel bags or solid, soft-sided luggage work best. There is no room for large, hard cases – easier to stack in safari vehicles and small planes.

  • Small backpack and small carry-on bag

  • Depending on your itinerary you can store excess luggage at our offices or your hotel in Nairobi.

  • Padlocks for luggage during international/regional flights.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Passport & necessary visas

  • Vaccination certificate (including Yellow Fever Certificate, where needed)

  • Airline tickets

  • Credit cards & accepted currency

  • Important personal documents

CLOTHING – WHAT TO WEAR:

Comfortable Safari clothes in neutral colours such as brown, tan, beige, khaki, green. Avoid white because of the dust from the savannah. Recommended items:

  • Trousers (khakis, cargo pants/similar)

  • Shorts / comfortable skirt

  • Tee-shirts – long & short-sleeved

  • Shirts / blouses – short-sleeved and long-sleeved

  • Fleece and/or puffa/gilet

  • Cardigan, pullover/sweater or sweatshirt - light to medium-weight

  • Light scarf & gloves (early mornings, late nights)

  • Wind-breaker or light rain jacket (GORE-TEX recommended)

  • Footwear – good walking shoes, gym shoes, hiking boots, Sandals for in-camp

  • Underwear and socks (a sports bra provides good support during a bumpy game drive)

  • Sleep wear (light weight sweats double up well)

  • Swim suit (if visiting properties with swimming pools and at the coast)

  • Sun hat with a brim. African sun can be strong

  • Sunglasses – good quality

  • Flip flops for pool or shower

Remember urban attire if staying on in a city. And beach attire if heading to the coast.
Jeans are not recommended as they take long to dry and are heavy to pack
